That adapter thing is how I resolved it on my MacBook Pro. Another way, and the one I use on my iMac that does not have a Thunderbolt port, is to bring up the MIDI application and set the USB Audio CODEC input and output to 44100 Hz instead of the recommended 48000 Hz. That has cured it for me and many others. You could also try that on your MacBook instead of using an adapter - up to you.I like the adapter method, as it frees up my USB port for other ?stuff?.
