I find the simplest way is to just use a 9 dollar usb sound card dongle
to handle the input and output audio on my Macbook Pro. and use fldigi
and RumlogNG, along with other mode software to get everything done.

I AM ABLE TO DOWNLOAD KX3 UPDATES, BUT DO NOT KNOW IF I COULD USE THE SAME CABLE FOR RTTY/PACKET/JT SOFTWARE THAT I MAY HAVE ON THE MAC. THE MAC DOES NOT HAVE A CONNECTION FOR A MICROPHONE SUCH AS WOULD BE AVAILABLE ON A WINDOWS MACHINE. I MUST ADMIT THAT I AM NOT COMPUTER LITERATE.TNX AND 73AA2ZJ
