Apple has dropped audio input on current Retina MacBookPro products. I’m not sure when that transition took place, and am too lazy too look :-)
There are inexpensive USB audio modules that will support both input and output and perhaps save you some hassle. It’s worth checking out this link if you don’t have a retina MacBook Pro … it may still work: record-through-your-macbooks-headphone-jack <https://www.cnet.com/how-to/record-through-your-macbooks-headphone-jack/>

>> HI GUYS, I AM USING A MAC BOOK PRO FROM 2010. I HAVE THE LATEST SOFTWARE AS OF THIS DATE. THE QUESTION IS, DOES "BIG E" HAVE A CABLE AVAILABLE THAT WOULD ALLOW WORK WITH MY MAC (USB) TO SEND-RECEIVE DATA SOFTWARE I HAVE ON THE PC? I AM ABLE TO DOWNLOAD KX3 UPDATES, BUT DO NOT KNOW IF I COULD USE THE SAME CABLE FOR RTTY/PACKET/JT SOFTWARE THAT I MAY HAVE ON THE MAC. THE MAC DOES NOT HAVE A CONNECTION FOR A MICROPHONE SUCH AS WOULD BE AVAILABLE ON A WINDOWS MACHINE. I MUST ADMIT THAT I AM NOT COMPUTER LITERATE.TNX AND 73AA2ZJ
