That same "balun" (actually a common mode choke) will work the same with 
the internal tuner.  In other words, if it is "good for the T1", it will 
also be "good for the internal tuner".

A common mode choke at the antenna feedpoint will solve many problems. 
If the feedline does not run perpendicular to the center of the antenna, 
the feedline may pick up radiation from the radiator and an additional 
common mode choke at the KX2 end can be helpful.
