Hi Doug,
Congrats on your good showing in the contest. I worked several while walking and had a nice view from the top of the hill.
In my tests, the MFJ whip could handle a lot more power than the Maldol. The Maldol faded after 20 or 30 seconds at 10 watts, as indicated by the SWR steadily going up. A more scientific test would be a good idea. But I don't think the Maldol HF whips are available anyway, so it's a mute point.
