[Elecraft] OT: anti-static mat advice

Just received a new black mat and it has an extremely strong rubber smell; I wouldn't mind some but this is obnoxious and I can't use it in the house, so I'm about to reject it.  I get the feeling that it is not completely cured.  I bought it from a good company but just thought I would ask the folks on the list if they've ever had this experience.  My previous mat (grey, can't remember who borrowed it) didn't smell at all.
