[Elecraft] K3 keying AFSK?

I recently purchased a new to me K3 which I am in the learning curve. I am trying to get the K3 to key RTTY in AFSK mode and not having any luck. I have Fred's book and have followed the steps with still no keying. I am using DM-780.  VOX is on, sound set correct (I think). Anyone have any idea of what I am missing? I would like to get this working for FD.
