[Elecraft] KX3 used market

I have a question for a friend who is looking for a KX3 used.   Are older serial numbers like the 2000s vs 7000s different hardware?

In other words, what on the used market should he look for, or is there much difference.  I know the K3 series are different, but I don't know about the KX3s.

I have a very recent KX3, and he badly wants one now.
