I have not had the experience doing this, but on page 13 of the KIO3B update manual, it instructs how to force a firmware download using the USB port by temporarily moving the internal slide switch to the USB position.

I just completed the install of the KI03 update to my K3 SN 4843 and guess what? I forgot to update the firmware to the latest version (4.86 now). The PC won’t talk to the K3 through the USB! Do I need to restore the old boards and then update? I am watching for your HELP!
