I have used the KXPD2 on a KX3 so I can say unequivocally that it does work.
As Don said, just plug it in.

Since the KXPD2 is shorter than the KXPD3, the KXPD2 paddles are slightly
higher above the desk when the tilt stand is deployed, but by only by about
4 mm (0.15 inch).
