Assuming you 

1. Have tech MD set as ON.

2. Are on REF CAL and waiting to see the flashing asterisk and not 
seeing it:

Then push the REV (2) button to be sure the k3xref is engaged. 

I'm guessing you might have missed that last step. If so, wait a 
short while & hope for the asterisk between the REF CAL
