The speaker amplifier and driver stages that were redesigned are on the DSP board, not the KIO3B. 

The KIO3B does have new audio circuitry, namely a CODEC and support circuitry for merging line-level audio with control data for use by the new USB port. But this has nothing to do with the speaker amp.
