[Elecraft] Serial Number Check for Elecraft gear

Wouldn't it be nice (function add perhaps?) so that when you power it on 
it asked for a code (you use the buttons on the front) and you don't 
have to set one... it will ask on power up for it, get 3 goes, then it 
remains locked... to 'unlock' you have to contact Elecraft? That would 
also ensure the database at Elecraft is a bit more up to date too.

It seems to be common place function with tablets and mobile phones so 
why not a $1k portable radio?

I am sure some might see the problems but I'm sure if even one unit were 
returned to the rightful owner because of it then it might be worth it? 
And if it stops the toe rags nicking one :-)
