I'd say Oliver is right. The basic K3 is so good that you will not really notice the difference for your use. You wont even have any problem if you start chase difficult DX. You will never have to give up copying a rare CW DX station even in difficult situations just because you didnt have the low noise synth (agree - its a postulate).
