[Elecraft] Elecraft Website

Patience. Seriously.

We need to think about two questions:

Who owns the internet?

How is it managed?

The answers: nobody owns the internet. It's a network of networks
("Internet" is a contraction of inter-network, the protocol to tie
multiple networks together).

The various network owners manage their own networks. The really large
networks can be called "backbones" but even that term is somewhat
meaningless.

The "management" is essentially chaotic. Nobody is driving the bus, but
people make sure that all of the bus parts end up at the next stop.

From here (on Verizon's dismal rural DSL) there are five networks on
the way to Elecraft. Any one of them can have a bad day and I'd have
trouble reaching www.Elecraft.com.

The one thing I'm certain of is that all of us follow different paths
through different networks, and any of those intermediate sites can have
trouble.

The odds are that it's not your provider, and it's not their provider,
it's someone in-between, and generally speaking, they won't take
complaints from you because you don't pay them. They'll fix it sooner or
later, because someone who does pay them will be having issues.

The amazing thing is that most of the time the internet is incredibly
reliable. It's mostly self-healing. Mostly. Kinda.

It's fun to talk about.
