Now for Cairns...

Um, kinda hard for those who place emphasis on the R. It is silent for us in the know.

You will be close saying CANS with no letter getting special treatment.

I am currently around 65 miles west of Cairns.

Just trying to be helpful guy's.

One tip — in Australia, “Ayer’s Rock” is pronounced “Uluru”. I gave up trying to match the local pronunciation of “Cairns”.
