[Elecraft] Digimodes what am I missing?

Please define effective. This is a hobby.
Except for Emergency communications, missing a character or two doesn't
mean squat. For contests, digital error correcting protocols are
non-starters. For pileups, I doubt any error correcting protocol will
be of use.
