Eric,

Given today and air flight security issues I would say this is becoming
the norm. I travel a lot with my KX3(s) in hand luggage and honestly
they raise more searches and questions than not so this is no surprise.
It doesn't matter what you look like either....

Think about it.... What attracts attention X-Ray wise is the regular
series of internal batteries inside.... red flag to any min wage
security bod who will escalate immediately.

Advise: ALWAYS carry your licence (not the tiny credit card thing I have
seem some show, copy and blow it up to A4 and laminate it), any local
license, couple of QSL cards and a Radio magazine in your bag (with KX3
advert!). Some places I have even had some guys give me advice where to
operate or you must meet so and so (local).

There I stood until a guy came over and donned nitrile gloves, and using a pair of tongs, swabbed my radio, cables, atu, paddles, etc, then stuck the large swab into a machine. I started to speak to him, but another TSA official told me to remain quiet. The rest of the passengers filed by, looking at me like I was Mohammed Atta. I was not asked a single question.
