I was lucky enough to visit (although not operate from) Amsterdam Island in
1987. When we arrived the main ship's VHF Marine Band radio had broken so we
conducted our ship to shore communications on 40 metres. We had a very rough
passage from Fremantle travelling a lot further south than the current
expedition. In the relatively calm waters beside Amsterdam Island I managed
to fix the VHF radio (broken microphone cable) allowing normal
communications for our departure.

I am hoping to work the guys now I have had chance to build (but not yet
test) my KXPA100 kit.
