[Elecraft] Filter not sticking

Larry,

If I may suggest --
Stop using the XFIL button. For voice modes, set the filter control
knobs to LO Cut/Hi Cut.
Use Hi Cut to set the upper end of the audio bandpass and Lo Cut to set
the low end. The filter center will then be automatic and the filters
will switch in and out automatically following the filter width.

You will find that you can only cut the low end by up to 300 Hz or so
and maintain intelligibility. With the HI CUT, you can cut a lot and
still maintain an intelligible signal, even though it will loose its
individuality.

You may find it easier to use a macro to change the ESSB menu entry ON
and OFF, then you could manage the same thing using the PF1 or PF2
button -- I do not have a macro to do that so you would have to study
the Programmer's Reference to accomplish that.

BTW, the transmit will be full width through the chosen filter - the
filter knobs control only the received width.

I have worked them all on the number 1 ARRL DX Honor roll so I don’t want my rig to just do ESSB audio. I enjoy CW as well. SOOOO here is my problem and it is probably my fault because I don’t understand the K3 architecture yet.

When I do an XFIL back to the 6kHz filter it has now a center frequency of 1.5 and the band with is now about 3.5K. It does not remember how I had it set up and I have to manually reconfigure the filter back to how I want it.
