The K2 speaker has been better for CW than anything else I have tried. 
No explanation.

 My experience likewise and this includes my K3.   The CW sidetone is improved and boosted 
even more with a right angle deflector on top of the internal speaker.  A 2 inch PVC elbow (painted black) does this nicely.
