My objection was not the process--easily done--but the duplication of
packages on Unstable with limited Internet bandwidth.  Having to
download 43 MB just for installing libgtk2.0-0:i386 made me back up.

I opted to use the Debian Wheezy i386 Virtual Box machine to run the
utility.  As I need the utility rather seldom this is a good method for
me and works flawlessly.

Virtual machines are a great way to continue to use aging software.
