[Elecraft] Saving Config file KX3

Bob, 
I do a save configuration every time I update firmware. My inference is that you can save your configuration every time you say "save configuration".

If one does not recalibrate does the config file change with firmware 
updates requiring re-saving or does it only have to be saved initially?
