I was Mike. The SB200 is rated at a maximum power of 1200 watts PEP sideband
and 1000 watts CW. But that is DC *input* to the final amplifier tubes. That
was how transmitters were commonly spec'd back then.
In use the SB200 runs about 500 to 600 watts RF output, which is fine for
the KAT500 as you note from the specs.

Keep in mind the power limitations. From the Owners Manual Specifications:
3 - 30 MHz 600W into 5 Ω to 500 Ω (10:1 SWR). 1000W into 16 Ω to 150 Ω (3:1
SWR)
1.8 - 2 MHz 600W into 10 Ω to 500 Ω (5:1 Low Impedance, 10:1 High Impedance
SWR)
30 - 60 MHz 500W into 5:1 SWR (10 Ω to 250 Ω)
