and now the K3 util came right up

Hi Sam,
This is most likely because you're running 64-bit Linux and the k3util
is a 32-bit app. You will need to install a bunch of 32-bit libraries
to get it to work. I reproduced the problem on Fedora 18 64-bit, and
got the k3util to work after installing several 32-bit RPMs. On Mint,
it *may* be as simple as 'sudo apt-get install ia32-libs'. If that
doesn't do it, try this:
ldd '/home/sam/elecraft/k3util_1_13_6_17/k3util
Libs/RBGUIFramework.so' | grep 'not found'
to see what you're missing...
