[Elecraft] O.T Question for the group

The utilities will not run but other software will and quite well on the
iPad, also none of the others have the battery of the iPad.

No they can't at the present time.  However, many of the new Windows tablets
(e.g. Acer Iconia W3/W4 or Lenovo Mix 2) run the Windows versions of those
programs quite nicely for *about half the price* of the comparable 64GB iPAD
Air (e.g. 8" display, 64GB SSD).
