Right Mark, I shall just have used the opposite logic:
Setting "HI=Inh" in the ACC2 IO Menu de facto disables TX (TX blinking); so this is the perfect solution with no need for external HW.

The kx3 is different from the k3 in that the input is normally hi. If set txinh=hi it won't transmit unless pulled low.
