[Elecraft] Shipping costs for Warranty repair

Poul-Erik,
     I shipping costs in the EU are in many countries pretty excessive -
costs are not the same in each of our individual countries.   I do not think
Elecraft could so easily make an open ended commitment in the EU.   I am
sure that stateside they have an agreement with UPS and this type of
arrangement is easier there.

      Well it is perhaps easier for us to get Acom or Expert amplifiers
serviced here than in the USA.

They follow SOP of all companies I'm aware of in that regard you pay in they
pack back to you. Seems fair to me. Think about a radio like I had a Yaesu
FTDX-5000MP that weighted 59# shipping weight or an amp in 2 packaged that
weigh's over a 100# and one is  small box very heavy the other a large box.
It costs $175 to Alpha one way then back in CO and I live in MO.

Makes sending something to Elecraft a real bargain IMHO.

Hi all
Elecraft repair and warranty policy is literally clear:
Elecraft will pay shipping to return the repaired equipment to you by UPS
ground service or equivalent to the continental USA and Canada. Alaska,
Hawaii and outside U.S. and Canada actual return shipping cost paid by
owner.

This is understandable if the repair service is done in USA.
However, when the warranty repair of a European customers Elecraft product
is done by a  European based Elecraft repair service, I would find it fair
that Elecraft would pay for returning the warranty-repaired item.

What do you think?
