Agreed. I enjoy helping out at the Elecraft booth at every New England ARRL
Convention. I always take time during the weekend to answer any questions I
can for prospective buyers. I try not to exaggerate or sugar-coat. I give my
opinions and relay my experience. I explain why Elecraft products have a
prominent role in my station, having tried many different radios. My station
is not exclusively Elecraft, but I do have now, and have had, many of their
products. I have built, owned and repaired the entire product line, at one
time or another.
It's not about drinking the Kool-Aid. Many of you are probably too young to
remember the true history of that reference anyway; (Jonestown, Guyana,
1978). (For me), volunteering at the Elecraft booth is about sharing your
experiences with others, and letting them make their own judgments.
Answering questions honestly, and saying "I don't know", when that's the
case.
I do it to help share my experience, if anyone should ask. It's a small way
of "giving back", and helping other's make their own informed decisions.
