[Elecraft] Harris Channel 11 VHF TV Amplifier Modules - IMMEDIATE ATTENTION REQUIRED

Hello!

I just received a telephone call from Thomas Bohnet in Fairbanks, AK.  He is the 
chief engineer for a broadcasting company up there, and is about to send 18 of these 
Harris amplifier modules to the dump for scrap.   They are part number 992-8969-011, 
and are supposedly built to operate between 174-230 MHz without any modifications.  I 
don't know what the output would be at 2m with the units as-is, or what it might take 
to tweak them to 2m.  He told me he thought each unit was tuned to put out around 
500w, which seems consistent with the Channel 2/6m Harris Platinum I amps with which 
I have dealt.  With the Channel 2 units, 10w drive typically resulted in close to 1 
kw output.

Thomas said he would prefer if someone would purchase all 18 units from him, but he 
would consider selling fewer units in the interest of trying to prevent these 
valuable pieces from going to the dump.   If you agree to take all 18, the cost would 
be closer to $100 each (plus bulk pallet shipping).   If you only wanted a one or 
two, the cost would be closer to $200 each plus UPS boxing and shipping (which I 
generally found to be around $100 here). I am sure you could run a pair of these in 
parallel (as I described on my web page for the Channel 2 units), if you wanted to 
make sure they would handle the legal limit, and 50 VDC power supplies are very

I have no involvement in this, and cannot provide any further information.  I am 
simply trying to help Thomas save these amps from the dump. If you have an interest 
in a solid state .5 to 1 kw amp, please contact Thomas directly ASAP at telephone 
number 907 322-1985.  He advised me that they will be disposed of for scrap in the 
next couple of days if no hams step forward to put them to use.
