[Elecraft] K3.xml and fldigi

Situation - I've used fldigi with the K3 successfully for 2 years (with the
latest Elecraft-recommended USB interface). Recently Windows 7 "upgraded"
my USB driver, which seemed to inject some difficulty. I went through
getting all K3 firmware upgraded.  The strange thing is that whereas I used
to use COM4, that is not available and the new driver issued a heretofore
nonexistent COM5 port.

So - now, I've reconfigured everything to COM5.  K3 Utilities software
connects to the K3 perfectly on COM5; so do HRD and other software like
flrig and JT65.  BUT - I have to stand on my head and fight hard to get my
favorite software (fldigi) to connect on COM5, most of the time
unsuccessfully.

I've tried G4ILO's variant of the K3.xml file, with no improvement. I am
trying to use the "RigCAT" connect option, as I always used in the past. I
must have some other setting incorrect.  Can anyone send me details of his
working configuration?
