[Elecraft] cw monitor volume on the KX3 with new beta software

I have uploaded the latest beta software to my KX3 primarily to get the
increased cw sidetone monitor volume. After doing this the sidetone level
has indeed increased but whenever I turn the KX3 off and back on, I have to
reset the monitor level each time. It defaults to a level setting of 10. Is
this normal? Can I change something in the menu or elsewhere to get the
monitor level to stay where I want it even if the radio is turned off? Any
help on this would be appreciated. Thanks!
