Rich,
You would not want ANY keying line interrupters in a
K3->KAT500->KPA500 config. You're right that you'd have surplus parts
if you procured another KPAK3AUX kit. Maybe the cable will be made
available for individual purchase....
Alternatively, this cable ($4.02) appears to have all 15 pins
connected straight through:

It looks like it should work.
