[Elecraft] Why did I purchase this antenna for the KX3?

I think that many of us wince at the "snake-oil" approach saying that such
an antenna will do everything. ("Snake oil" was sold in the US far west in
the 1800's as a cure for everything from gout to toothache and, since it was
generally 90 proof alcohol, it usually seemed to do the job -- until after
the hangover). 

The point is that sticking a wire into the center of the antenna connector
and taping it to the wall as high as you can reach will work as well and
likely much better. 

We have many Hams in the USA today who have no technical understanding of
radio. Our licensing is mostly about operating a radio according to the FCC
rules, not so much about how radio works. Such Hams are easy prey for the
'snake oil' salesmen. The rest of the fraternity wince at seeing them spend
dollars for something that can be done for pennies.
