I installed 8 new Lithiums in my KX3 just to try them out…. 15 bucks…
Yep that first set worked just fine. I used them for a few weeks off and on listened to am short-wave made cw and ssb contacts more or less for a few weeks.
FB the voltage hovered above 12 volts in the Rx mode… No problem. I am happy.
Today they gave up the ghost.
The KX3 huffed and puffed and shut down :) Time to swap out the old for the new.
Cracked open a brand spanking new set (8 to a pack) and shoehorned them into my KX3 rig. ahhh fresh juice I thought to myself…
Maybe I'll do a few QSO's on 21 since its been kinda good.
Within 5 mins the voltage is at or below 12 volts… WTF!
Is my radio messed up???? no…
Pulled the battery and measure the voltage of each cell… 1.614 +/- on a lark I measure the Old ones… 1.591 +/-….hummmm but in the old 8 pack there was one battery that measured 1.214 +/- volts…. Hummmm
Seems the new batteries are bogus…
I will call the Energizer Hot line in the AM and see whats up.
800 383 7323
So beware of bogus Lithium batteries… checked Amazon battery reviews and saw some folks are having problems with crappy lithiums…. hummmm
I smell a rat.
