[Elecraft] P2 Span Question

I have been playing with my new P3 and wonder how others use the 
"span" feature on different modes.

I have been using a span of:

CW - 10 to 15
SSB - 50 to 60
RTTY - 40- 50

What do others use for "span?"

 In our day and age it seems that Common Sense is in short supply.  If you don't 
have any Common Sense - get some Common Sense and use it.  If you can't find any 
Common Sense, ask for help from somebody who has some Common Sense.  Is Common 
Sense divine?
