[Elecraft] HEAVY KNOBS??

Wasn't it Hammarlund who had some receivers with knobs like that, including
the little spinner handle?

My old HRO-5 had a huge and heavy knob that had a great feel, connected to a
shaft and gear mechanism that looked like an automobile differential
complete with a filler of grease! That's why I questioned whether the
current encoders were up to handling heavy knobs.

Now that Eric has reported that the K3 encoders have ball bearings (so the
wear is spread over many points instead of just on one side of a sleeve), I
sure that now someone do whatever it takes to see how much weight they can
handle, Hi!

Let the good times roll!

I remember some military transmitters with "knobs" about like that. :-)
