I recommend the Keyspan USA-19HS USB to serial adapter. Keyspan is good about keeping their Mac drivers up to date. The Mac drivers for the Prolific chips used in most cheap, generic USB to serial adapters tend to be buggy and unstable. Amazon has the Keyspan units: http://amzn.com/B0000VYJRY .
