I am now moving on to a version of Windows for P3 that can be operated
remotely over the internet.
Basically, the Windows4P3 client will be a version that uses a flash
component for display of the video in the user interface and comport tcp ip
redirection. Once again you need a frame grabber board on your computer.
My setup uses the free Adobe Flash Encoder and so far (free) twitch.tv for
the streaming components.
At a resolution of 700x480 I am getting about 200 kb/s average bandwidth
usage.
he video quality is passable, but there seems to be about a 2 second delay
between the actual spectrum and the remote spectrum, with one or so screen
freeze every 20 seconds or so. My bandwidth capability is 2 mb/s upload and
60mb/s download. The upload is of course the limiting factor here, since
the stream originates at my computer.
I don't have much experience with streaming, so so far it probably is not
optimized. If anyone has any experience here and can provide some hints it
would be appreciated.
Why is there a two second delay? I thought that this would be real time. Is
two seconds really that bad for finding the signals on the air? I think
not. However, the controls also respond with a 2 second delay so patience
would be required.
Does anyone know how to optimize these variables? I mean Skype doesn't seem
to be delayed but perhaps it is.
Would the whole concept be useful?
