Good Evening,
Wow, my ears are still ringing from the second net. Noise just kept
increasing as I tried digging deeper. I lost one fellow at the end of
the net but got an email from him. He was trying out his new KX3 from
Corvallis. It is surprising I was able to get any of his call because
ground wave was blocked by the eastern flank of the Coast Range. I was
only getting a little skywave propagation which is far too close for 40
meters. Propagation is amazing. Today it was not great but I did get a
few on twenty and a few more on forty.
Next week is Field Day so I know many of you will be scattered to
the winds with your stations packed into plastic crates ready to get
back home and get some sleep. Good luck with working from the
hinterlands and maybe I will hear you on the air.
On to the lists =>
On 14049.5 kHz at 2200z:
NO8V - John - MI - K3 - 820
K0DTJ - Brian - CA - K3 - 4113
W0CZ - Ken - ND - K3 - 457
On 7045 kHz at 0200z:
K0DTJ - Brian - CA - K3 - 4113
W0CZ - Ken - ND - K3 - 457
N0TA - John - CO - K3 - 994
N6KIX - Rob - CA
K6PJV - Dale - CA - K3 - 1183
I thought I had worked N6KIX previously or else I would have asked
him for his rig and serial number information. For some reason the call
rings a bell. While watching the US Open I enjoyed the foggy
conditions. Reminds me of the courses around here :) However it was
not raining and the balls were not getting stuck six inches deep in the
fairways. The course seemed surrounded by lots of sand which makes me
wonder: "Doesn't all that fog leave a lot of moisture in its wake and
green up the plants?" Around here those fogs hit the trees and cause
their own rain aimed directly at the tree's roots. Sometimes I drive
down my gravel road and see circles of wet areas with dry, dusty areas
in between.
Until two weeks from now,
73,
Kevin. KD5ONS (Net Control Operator 5th Class)
