Actually I think the KX3 is an ideal candidate for HF-70cm as a
mobile. The KXPA-100 will handle HF-6m as a "trunk-mount" and the
KX3-2M extends operation to 2m. I am hoping we can convince Elecraft
that a 70cm/50 MHz transverter would find a good market. I can see
possibly a clam-shell package attached to the back of the KX3 that
would house both transverters. In any case an external 70cm
transverter can be used to achieve the HF-70cm mobile goal.
If more than 10w is needed on VHF/UHF there are amplifiers available
from other mfr's that can be "trunk-mounted" for convenience. There
are diplexers that permit use of a VHF/UHF dual-band antenna and even
HF/VHF/UHF triplexers for using a single antenna.
I think a little creativity and the KX3 is your KM1.
