[Elecraft] KX3 questions

The KXPD3 (paddles), KXAT3 (antenna tuner) and KXFL3 (filters) are easy to
add at any time. Nothing to disassemble for the KXAT3 or KXFL3 - you just
open the KX3 as if you were going to install batteries and plug them in. A
screw or two secures each one in its socket. Of course, the KXPD3 plugs in
without opening the KX3.
So there's no reason to wait before "jumping in". Of course, you'll need an
antenna system that is decently matched to 50 ohms (or an external "tuner").
The filters provide additional help with crowded bands.
The paddles are super-convenient and comfortable, but for CW you can use
your favorite key.
Oh, and I'm forgetting the MH3 microphone which offers a lot of portable
operating convenience with important operating functions right on the mic's
buttons. But you can certainly get started with just about any mic you have!

Subject: [Elecraft] KX3 questions
I am thinking about purchasing a KX3. I can afford the KX3 but probably not
any of the options at this point. Is this worth doing and then adding the
modules as I can afford them or should I wait until I can afford the whole
ball of wax ?
It looks I may be in San Francisco on business for close to a week in the
near future. Is it worth considering having a KX3 shipped to my hotel and
then working on it at night ? If so, what tools should I either pack in my
luggage or try to buy locally ?
Thanks,
Ron
