[Elecraft] K3 transmit audio cuts out

Keith, Did you ever look at the vfo B voltage display whilst transmitting to
check volt drop?

I would have thought the transceiver would turn itself off before the
transmitted audio ceased if you had a volt drop problem. The radio tends to
give you current warnings during these events as it tries to meet the power
level programmed.

Using a short custom APP cable rated for 50 amps and 30 amp power supply
close at 15v is well worthwhile.
I run a 15v 30A sw/mode on the P3 (Can't get much closer than that), with
a secondary supply from a 7 cell LA battery bank with its own 15v 25A
linear PS.

Dons advice regarding the app connectors is great, but not sure if that was
your issue.
The fact that you cleaned up the rfi area with no re-occurrence of the
issue says a lot.

Don,

I am pretty sure that we found the culprit. The APP connectors did not click
properly for the one set and I am examining the ones for the other. I will
need to be more diligent in making sure I get a good click inserting into
the plastic housing.

I spent a lot of time rooting out any RFI issues but I guess that is really
time well spent since cleaning up my shack and all the cables and wires is
probably a good idea.

Thanks,

Keith

I am waiting on the 3rd one.

to take care of RFI but i know believe that the power connectors are a
little intermittent at times. I don't always get a solid click when
inserting into the back of the K3 or into the power supply line. I like the
convenience of those type of connectors but they do seem to loosen up over
time.
