There is a third "emerging" group:  The weak-signal enthusiast, 
whether that is in the form of VHF/mw, eme or even LFer.  The FT-817 
took over the interest of the microwave operators a decade ago and I 
estimate 80% bought one.  I predict when the KX3 is "discovered" it 
will be replacing the FT-817's in a big way.  I estimate about 1,000 
mw operators in the world.  You think Elecraft would enjoy 800 extra 
KX3 orders over the next two years?  I'm talking orders beyond the 
existing groups Gil mentions.

My demo was lightly attended, yesterday.  But the hamfest numbers 
were down a third from last year, as well.
