This is true and just one more good reason to switch to the FTDI chipset.
My company just bit the bullet and replaced about 200 of the prolific
devices for FTDI.
IT department headache number 5 alleviated.

cables. You don't say where you got the cable you're talking about, but
if they have translucent blue plastic, there's a good chance it's a
counterfeit chip according to what I've seen on the intarwebs.
