[Elecraft] K3. S/No:4250

Hi all, I have had my K3 since mid August 2010. Bought it as a kit fully
optioned with 2nd Rx,&gen coverage BPFand a set of 8 pole filters for main &
2nd Rx. 

Since I have had it in use (mainly 160M) it has performed almost flawlessly;
with one exception!

When I engage the SUB Rx on our early morning net freq of 1859KHz I get a
soft repetitive whoosh -whoosh sound form the stereo speakers, almost as if
there were a slow BEAT between the frequency of the two receivers, this is
audible even if there is no signal on frequency or not.  This phenomenon is
NOT as pronounced if the two Rx are tuned to a frequency ending in a round
number (say 1860KHz) but is still there and JUST tolerable!

I do have the High stability TCXO option installed. and, have re-calibrated
the main synthesiser a couple of times in the past year, each time with some
improvement but the problem is still there and over time 
(4 to 6 weeks) becomes annoying again. I suspect that there is a slow drift
of or in the calibration of the main & 2nd sythesizers but cannot be 100%
certain that this is a fact!

I would deeply appreciate any POSITIVE comment advice or assistance in
regard to this matter, as, I am becoming frustrated by this slow
deterioration in the performance of what is otherwise a very fine radio.

P.S. 
Does anyone in the forum have any knowledge of using an Alinco EDX-2
external ATU with a K3?
for example any wiring changes to accomodate band data exchange & keying &
tune signals / data?
