I agree. The KNB1 is very modest in price. When someday the K1 is
discontinued, it may not be available for back-fit to older units.
If you don't buy the KNB1, you won't have the connector that installs
on the K1 RF PCB. In that case, you'd be wise to only tack in RF-C22
*away* from the holes for the KNB1 connector, so you don't risk damaging
any traces if later you get the KNB1 and then must remove C22 to install
the connector.
I have not often needed the KNB1 in the eleven years I've had the K1,
but when it has been needed (I operate portable a lot), it's been well
worth the price. For a couple of years in my neighborhood, an odd
digital-like noise was continuous on 20m and 15m. The KNB1 on HIGH
threshold made it vanish. The more extreme LOW threshold is, as one
would expect, more troublesome from an IMD and dynamic blocking range
performance aspect, so I've never used the LOW threshold setting.
