[Elecraft] K3 Transmitter Equalizer

Tom,

You can (and should) apply TX EQ to match the microphone - many mics
have a lot of bass response that will eat up transmitter power without
adding any intelligibility, so cut the bottom two bands of the equalizer
completely down. With microphones that have a flat response, you will
want to add a bit of boost to the frequencies near 3500 to 4000 Hz to
improve intelligibility. The Elecraft microphones and Heil amateur mics
(as well as some others) may have this peaking as a part of the
microphone element design, others may not - TX EQ allows you to adjust
for the response of just about any microphone.
