[Elecraft] PTT plus VOX -- possible?

Well, I did some experimenting this morning.  On RTTY I can use PTT to 

key the rig and it works in a snappier way than using vox for afsk rtty.  On voice, though, 

I key the rig with ptt from my laptop but no audio.  I tried setting the menu entry to mic+line 

but it tells me NOT APPL.  Not sure what to make of that.  Anyone else tried this?

Remember that your mic is live when N1MM is transmitting so you need to 
be careful what you say :-)
