If comport is set ok, then I would replace U1 on the KIO3 board.

A friend brought over his K3 which would not power up. Did a EE INIT and it
came to life, and everything seemed to work OK (very brief look).

He wanted me to update the firmware, but the K3 Utility failed to connect
fromthe Mac  or a Win box. Both connect fine to my K3.

Any hints on a troubleshooting routine would be appreciated.
